GrEIGHTful!

It is time that I get back into my grateful lists. Man I have been so horrible lately at keeping up with emails, facebook, blogging, it is so sad. Like I said, I am stuck in front of a computer all day at work and the last thing I feel like doing is getting back on when I am home. Plus there is not enough hours in the day--ever!

So I am grateful for:

1.) The fact that my husband can cut hair. He has been cutting his own hair for years, since before I even met him. Don't ask me how he does it, but it does look good and he even tries different styles. Well, on Monday we sat Zech down and Daddy gave him a hair cut. He did a great job considering how much Zech was squirming and moving about. His hair grows so incredibly fast and if we were to take him every month to get it cut at the salon we would be broke, so hence the reason for trying a hair cut at home.

2.) My little boy. Even though the last few weeks have been SO difficult with tantrums and fits galore, this truly is a fun age and we are always so amazed at the things that come out of his mouth and how much he is just soaking up and learning.

3.) Zech's bedtime routine. Every night (usually) we give him a bath, get him ready for bed and then sit on our bed and read a story and the Bible to him. Every night he asks to read the Bible and there was a tantrum the other night because we were late and I thought we didn't have time. When he threw a tantrum to read the Bible, well I had to give in and read a short story. Just lately he has also been asking for cuddles, so he lies in between us and cuddles (and I will cherish these moments as I know that he will grow up way too quickly and the cuddle times will disappear).

(Note Zech's new haircut)
4.) My job. Even though I am stressed, frustrated and am so looking forward to going on Maternity Leave again, I am extremely grateful that I have a good, secure job. There have been so many layoffs here and more to come, it is really quite scary!

5.) My hubby and all that he does for us! He works so hard and always puts his family first!

6.) Feeling all the little movements from this little one growing stronger and stronger in my belly with each passing day. My absolute favourite part about being pregnant!

7.) My sister who has been taking care of Zech a day a week since before Christmas. It gives John a much needed study day and break from our monkey. Plus Zech absolutely adores going to Aunty Mel's, Uncle Cor's and Jonas'. It is a lot of fun watching Zech and Jonas interact with one another. They still have their laughing fits, which is too stinking cute!

(John trying to study and Zech just kept bringing him all of his toys and saying "here daddy here")

8.) The Bible!

You're looking fantastic. I love all those movements as well. Looks like those two boys are enjoying their time together. And, I do totally agree with you that throwing a tantrum over reading the Bible is not such a bad thing. What a great bedtime tradition you've started as a family.

Hi Vanessa,
I check facebook, and my email on an almost daily basis. I check your blog nearly as frequently. But I missed a few days recently. Imagine how surprised and delighted I was this morning when I found three new postings on your blog!!
I cut Jarl and Kai's hair when they were young. Until Helge decided he was growing a ponytail I cut his hair, too. I thought I gave him a good cut, and preferred it to the ponytail!! Who would have guessed John cuts his own hair? He does a good job.
My standards for my hair and my daughters' hair were different, however. I always took the girls to a hairdresser. (I may have cut Aina's hair once or twice and made a real mess.)Being a short-hair person I've always gone to great pains to find a good short-hair hairdresser. In my experience, many hairdressers who do a good job of cutting long hair are not skilled with short hair. When I have hair, I get it cut every 5 - 6 weeks. A good cut is a real priority for me, and makes styling a breeze. I enjoyed your pregnancy picture.
Love,
Auntie Elaine

Amendment: It was FOUR new postings I found!! Yes, Melanie caring for Zech one day a week is a special treat - for all of you. It is great that the cousins can spend time together and get to know one another. We missed out on many of those opportunities, having spent so many years in Australia. I am thankful we returned to Canada when we did, though, and that we have had many special family times since then.

V - thanks for your compliments on my SB layouts. Unfortunately, I can't take much credit for original ideas. Lots of what I do is inspired by other designers, magazines or nature. Once you spend more time creating, especially without interruptions (like 2 yr. olds!), you begin to notice so many details that can be translated into LO details. In this class, Cathy Zielske gave us the sketches and lots of tips about colors and details which has been a great way to learn. I hope you find a little time to create this weekend :))

Love your list! Zechy's haircut is so cute - I've definitely been enjoying looking after him and Jonas loves it too! You'll have to return the favor when you are on mat. leave (then you can practice for the 3rd kid, lol). Can't wait for my new niece...um nephew (I think baby G#2 is girl, no reason). You are looking good sweetie!
